There’s something exciting about a new year: that blank calendar is just ripe with possibilities! Sometimes it’s fun to guess what will fill those calendar pages, but when it comes to marketing your business, it’s a good idea to have some type of plan. If one of your marketing strategies is blogging, advance planning can keep you from drawing a blank when it’s time to write a new post.

Every month, week and day, there are some really strange, fun and downright funny holidays and observances celebrated around the world, which can often help you generate ideas for your blog. Some of my past blog posts have been inspired by such events as International Ideas Month, Entrepreneurs “Do It Yourself” Marketing Month, and Canada Career Week.
You’re probably thinking, “Janet, I can hardly squeeze in time to write in my blog; how am I supposed to find time to research these special themes?”
I know you’re busy! That’s why I have a special gift for you: a downloadable blogging calendar and planner for 2010. It’s got quite a few holidays already on it, many related to organizing, with plenty of space for you to add your own ideas. You can refer to it when you’re in need of inspiration, or use it to plan your posts in advance. You’ll find it handy whether you like to plan by the week, the month, or the whole year, and even if your approach to blogging tends to be more spontaneous.
Download your free 2010 Blogging Calendar and check it out for yourself. I’m sure you’ll get a few ideas the first time you look at it! If it’s not yet time to cover that topic, there’s absolutely no reason you can’t write your posts now and schedule them to be published at the appropriate time.
Do you need help with your blog? Organized Assistant can support you by researching topic ideas, facts and figures on subjects you’ve chosen to write about, and important keywords you should incorporate into your post titles and content to generate search engine traffic.
What goals do you have for your blog in 2010? How do you plan to achieve them?

Hey Janet! Thanks for the inspiration. For a Canadian take on this theme, Charity Village has all the special events posted on their site as well http://bit.ly/4Roldi
I’m glad I’ll be developing a blogging plan for 2010 because you know what they say… Failure to plan is a plan for failure!
Happy Holidays!
Thanks for the resource, Jacki. Those charity-related events are a great way to come up with blogging ideas and promote worthy causes at the same time. One year I announced that during Mental Illness Awareness Week, I’d donate 75% of the proceeds from all sales of my Personal Medical Organizer to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, and not only did it generate sales, but I was able to make a nice donation. It’s a win-win situation!
thanks Janet! What a great resource! Lots to know here!
As always, Janet, you combine the essential and the I-didn’t-even-know-I-needed-it to give your readers superb value. Rock on!
Julie and Ellen, I’m really glad you liked it! I’ll try to take my own advice and come up with some really great content for next year.
Jello week? I’m marking my calendar to see how that topic inspires your writing!
Seriously, thanks for providing such wonderful content all year long; every post is fresh and interesting.
Geralin, I can’t resist a challenge – I’ll have to see what I can come up with!
Geralin, I missed the boat last year, but I found a way to incorporate Jell-O Week into my blog! Check it out at http://janetbarclay.com/2011/02/10/what-can-we-learn-from-jell-o/. How did I do?
