Anne Blumer and I connected not long after I launched this blog in 2009, when she sent me a copy of her first book, Get Rich Organizing. Since then she’s sponsored the Professional Organizers Blog Carnival: 10th Anniversary Edition, participated in an organizer interview, and become a Productivity & Organizing Blog Carnival Star Blogger.
In addition, I’ve been managing Anne’s SolutionsForYou Professional Organizing Services Inc. and the Institute for Professional Organizers websites for several years. So I guess you could say we know each other. 🙂
I decided to feature Anne today, not because of our history together, but because she recently celebrated her 20th business anniversary, and the way she announced it is a great example of focusing on your readers.
In a blog post called “Twenty Years in Business” she shared appreciation for those who have supported her over the years along with some data about her business. Although her numbers are impressive, she presents them as “fun facts” and not at all in a self-promotional way.
She captured her career highlights in this wonderful infographic:
Anne also chose this occasion to announce that she’s entering semi-retirement and will no longer be offering hands on organizing. This, too, was handled with warmth and compassion, reassuring readers that she still loves her clients and her career and will continue to be available for virtual organizing.
If you’ve been in business for a while, you’ve no doubt met Anne, or at least heard of her, through NAPO, ICD, or this blog.
But if you’re just getting started, she’s definitely someone you’ll want to follow. Not only does have a great organizer website, she offers a Professional Organizers Toolkit and courses to help you launch, manage, and grow your organizing business.

Mazel tov on your successes, Anne. As we’ve come up together over these last decades, it’s been exciting to see the robust way you’ve explored different reams in the professional organizing business and supported the growth of so many. I had the extreme joy of getting to know Anne when we served on the ICD Board together. What can I say? She’s professional, talented, honest, dedicated, and fun. I could always count on her. As Treasurer, she had a gift for making the numbers understandable in actionable ways.
Congratulations, Anne, on this incredible milestone! Twenty years in business with so many highlights to celebrate. It’s an honor to have you as a friend and colleague.
Aww, Linda, thank you so much for your thoughtful words. The joy has been mine working with you and sharing many laughs. I learned a great deal under your inspiring leadership. You are a treasure and a true friend. xoxo
