NAPO 2016 Organizing Expo - Part 1

One of the highlights of any conference for professional organizers is the opportunity to learn about organizations relevant to the organizing industry as well as exciting new organizing products.

There were so many interesting vendors at NAPO2016 that I recruited not one but two guest bloggers to cover them all! Julie Stobbe‘s here today to talk about some of them.

Janet

It was my first trip to the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) conference. As a Canadian it was fun to meet many of the people from Blogging Organizers and other Facebook groups. The vendor expo had an interesting combination of products, services, associations and charities. It was enlightening to see what products are available in the United States and dream about them coming to Canada.

Creative Options

Creative Options

This NAPO vendor had many small to medium sized containers to organize just about everything, however, they specialize in craft organizing containers. They were plastic, stacked well and closed tightly. There was a case that opened to hold 4 containers. It would be great for transporting items. If pink is your color, you can find it here.

Lock and Rollin Flooring Solution

This plastic roll up floor can be laid between joists in your attic to make a strong floor. Installing large sheets of plywood in your attic can be difficult. This flooring rolls up and is easily carried up the steps, unrolled and screwed into place.

Crime Scene Steri Clean and Steri Clean Hoarders

These two companies help to clean up and clean out situations that are beyond the scope of most people, including Professional Organizers. They know how to do the job safely.

Associations

Association of Personal Photo Organizers

This association offers many resources for organizing digital and paper photos as well as memorabilia. They have a photo organizing box that is archive quality. The nice thing about the box is it has eight smaller boxes inside it and two folders for storing large pictures.

Institute of Challenging Disorganization

This association provides education for working with clients that have challenging disorganization situations. They may be chronically disorganized, hoarders, have ADHD or ADD, obsessive compulsive disorder, brain injury, sensory or memory issues, etc. ICD has many online resources for members and the public, as well as books, webinars, and a certification program for people interested in learning more.

Charities

Habitat for Humanity

This charity takes many building supply donations. If you need your kitchen removed before you do renovations, call and see if your cupboards, counter top, wiring, doors, etc  are useful to them. If you’re looking for building supplies. go into one of their stores, ReStore. You will be surprised what they have: toilets, air conditioners, furniture, doors, hardware, etc.

Be sure to come back on Friday to learn about more NAPO2016 vendors from Seana Turner!

Enjoyed seeing all of these as well! Fun to go the Expo and see what’s new for getting and staying organized!

I have to say, reading Julie’s post and yours (which will be published on Friday) made me wish I’d been there myself. 🙂

Thank you so much for the great review of the NAPO Expo. And while I was there, I had a hard time actually seeing everything. I usually am talking with people and have a hard time concentrating on visiting all the booths. It was great seeing you there, Julie, and even having a quiet and delicious dinner out in Atlanta together.

I love that you featured ICD too. Thank you for letting everyone know what a great resource ICD is. It was wonderful talking with so many ICD subscribers, meeting the new ones, and others that are looking forward to becoming a subscriber.

I’m so glad you got to spend time with Julie – she and I go way back!

I wasn’t able to attend the conference so this is really helpful. I love the Creative Options bins. Organizing small things can be frustrating. These organizing bins are very useful. Thanks for sharing.

They look like they would be very good quality, too. I hate containers where the lids don’t stay closed properly!

Thanks, Julie and Janet. I was unable to go this year, so will be reading all conference related posts eagerly!

Did you see Seana’s Organizing Expo – Part 2?

There are two more conference related posts to come, and now that I think of it, I should follow up with a couple of others who said they were interested in contributing something. It feels funny not having one from you this year!

The conference and the expo were a lot of fun. Dinner with Linda was very enjoyable. It nice to meet some of the Blogging Organizers whose articles I frequently read. Thanks for posting my article and making it look so good Janet.

Julie, I appreciate your write-up, especially all the photos, and I’m glad you were there to represent the Golden Horseshoe area.

What a great re-cap! That lock and roll flooring system looks awesome. I could recommend that to a few clients.

That’s pretty unique, isn’t it? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a product like that before.

I love reading about organizing products! There were several in this post that I wasn’t aware of so thank you! My daughter would LOVE the Creative Options containers. I’m so excited that I’ll be going to NAPO next year and will get to see the expo myself!

Oh Hilda, you are going to love it – it’s like the POC Conference on steroids!
