September is Save Your Photos Month, a public service outreach campaign developed by the Association of Personal Photo Organizers (now known as The Photo Managers) to teach individuals how they can preserve life’s irreplaceable photos, videos, and documents, in the event of unforeseen accident or disaster.
I encourage you to visit the Save Your Photos website to learn more about this initiative, including webinars and local events taking place this month in Australia, Canada, The Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United States.
In honor of Save Your Photos Month, I’m pleased to welcome APPO as the sponsor for this edition of the Professional Organizers Blog Carnival, which is all about Organizing Photos (of course!).
If you need photo organizing solutions for yourself or your clients, check out these submissions from my wonderful readers! As you read the posts, please show your appreciation by leaving comments and sharing your favorites, using the hashtags #POBC and #saveyourphotos in your social media posts.

Wow – great roundup of contributors and content. I’ve just been helping a client with digital photos. It can feel overwhelming for sure. The technology changes so quickly, it can be challenging to stay on top of it all. So thankful for APPO and their expertise!
As a photography buff who loves to take photos of all kinds, I’m really excited about all the information and resources suggested by the contributors. I may have even found my next big project! 😉
Wow! There are so many great ideas in this roundup. Thanks for including me!
You should get extra points for being the first one in more often than not! 😉
Wow, what a great list of organizing photos posts! I can’t wait to go through them all. Thanks for including me.
It’s always a pleasure, Sabrina!
Janet, Sorting and minimizing the photos, both print and digital is the next phase of our minimizing project. I’ve gathered the 10K plus loose and albumed photos in one corner of the family room, where they visually can’t be ignored. I plan to start on the print phase of this project as soon as it gets cooler and I’m stuck inside in the evenings. Now, I’ll add an important first step to this project, reading through all of these postings. : ) Thanks for pulling together all of this great content. Best, Andrea
Wow, that’s a lot of photos! I can’t even imagine how many I have here in albums and boxes (and possibly other places), but what an exciting project! I’m sure you’ll find some valuable tips in here.
Thanks for this carnival, Janet. For the first time in my adult life, I have found a hobby – making photo books! It is my Saturday morning activity while the house is filled with sleeping people. I saved this roundup to read this morning, and am now inspired to pull out all of the kid artwork I’ve saved and organize/purge it on my dining room table. I plan to photograph the key pieces and include them in future photo books. I feel informed, appropriately caffeinated, and ready to go!
What a wonderful hobby! I am itching to organize some photos myself, especially with all this great inspiration. Having a specific goal in mind would definitely help me scratch that itch. 🙂
