Great ideas Janet! Thanks for the reminder about bringing your own voice to similar topics. I think that is what stops most of us from moving forward with post ideas.

    • Janet Barclay on November 27, 2013 at 2:11 pm

I hope this will encourage you (and others) to do just that! Sometimes when I choose the topics for the Professional Organizers Blog Carnival, I worry that there will be 10 posts saying basically the same thing, but I am always excited to see many different approaches to the same topic! Keep in mind that the Blog Carnival topics are much broader than the Blogging Ideas suggested in this post!

Glad you liked it, Macy! Thanks for stopping by – you may be the youngest blogger I’ve “met” Woo hoo!

This was very helpful! Thank you!

I’m glad you found it helpful, Mick! Even though I had Christmas on my mind when I wrote this, the topics can easily be applied or adapted for other holidays too.

What a fantastic list of ideas! List type posts are especially favorite too. I think they are even more helpful this time of year as people are busier and have less time. So bulleted, useful, timely points can get scanned and are appreciated. I keep a list of topics and ideas to for potential blog posts. Your list of suggestions will be great to add to the mix.

It’s also a great point you make about not worrying if multiple people write on the same topic. Everyone has a unique view which keeps things interesting.

I think most of these topics would work as list posts, Linda. I’m glad you found them helpful – your posts are always unique!

So fun revisiting this post! Your suggested topics are timely. Another popular category this time of year is the “Best of” posts. I know you have a POBC coming out soon featuring exactly that. Or at least it’s a post featuring our favorite or “best” posts of the year. This week I compiled a “best of” post with my favorite posts written (including a favorite quote) from this year. It was a challenge to pick one from each month, but fun to go back, read everything, and put a collection of 12 together.

One advantage of a “best of” type post is it allows you to repurpose your content and give it some new life.

I thoroughly enjoyed your “best of” post, especially because you wrote in a way that was very reader-focused and not, rah rah, look at all the great stuff I wrote for you – not that that is your style at all!

Thank you for the helpful ideas! It’s amazing all that we can write about around the topic of the holidays!

    • Janet Barclay on November 26, 2018 at 1:15 pm

I guess there’s a lot of organization needed this time of year. 🙂

So many great ideas here. I love that you talk about thinking ahead to a planner/system for the New Year. Now is the perfect time to considering this so you can hit the ground running in January. I just read a post by a fellow organizer about using recyclables to wrap gifts. Such a wonderful idea, and so environmentally friendly. I believe 25 organizers could write on the same topic and I would learn from each and every one!

    • Janet Barclay on November 26, 2018 at 1:16 pm

I love reading about paper planners, even though I haven’t used one in a couple of years or more! I also love reading different perspectives on the same topic.

Great list, Janet! I started thinking about what to write next week and am stuck. This helps me a lot. Thank you.

I’m surprised – you always seem to have so many great ideas! I’m happy to have helped, and can’t wait to see what you come up with!

These are all great blogging ideas. I’ve done a few but will add a few of these to my list. Sometimes the ideas are the hardest part. Thanks.

    • Janet Barclay on December 8, 2022 at 10:05 am

I’m glad it was helpful! Even seasoned bloggers need a little inspiration now and then. 🙂

Excellent ideas! I usually do clutter-free gifts and then am eager to leave the holidays behind, but I really should do a paper planner series! I haven’t done a calendar post in years! Thanks for the great notions! We should all take note for next fall, to slot a few of these at least!

    • Janet Barclay on December 8, 2022 at 10:06 am

Oh Julie, even though I use Google calendar, I adore paper planners and reading about all the wonderful new ones on the market. I will look forward to that!

Thank you Janet, organizing healthy meals is a great idea! I am trying so hard to lose my Covid weight (yes still using covid as an excuse) LOL but a great reminder that we can still eat better during the holidays!

    • Janet Barclay on December 13, 2022 at 9:45 am

LOL! It’s almost impossible to avoid all the treats, but if we eat healthy at regular meals, at least we know we’re trying.
