Taking Things Up a Notch

These days, most organizers have a website right from the get-go. Even if it’s a simple one-pager with contact details and basic information about your services, it is expected that a credible business will have an online presence. As your business grows, your website needs to evolve as well, to reflect your increasing expertise and status within the organizing industry. I’ve recently had the pleasure of doing a website redesign for a several clients who were ready to take their business to the next level.
Cindy Kamm – Details etc.
Cindy’s original website, pictured below, was created in 2005. Although it was an attractive, uncluttered site, it no longer presented the image she wanted for her business. In addition, she wanted to start blogging. She sent me her new logo and I set out to develop a new WordPress site with a design that reflected Cindy’s vision, shown above.
Pamela Culp Blanchard – Be Clutter Free
After creating a website and blog for the new Senior Downsizing division of Pamela’s business, she asked me to investigate why her main website was not doing well in Google.
I discovered that the site had been built using iframes, which aren’t ideal from an SEO perspective as they’re next to impossible for the search engines to crawl. Furthermore, much of the content was made up of images rather than text, making it very difficult for the search engines to identify what the site was about. The easiest way to resolve this problem was to move the content into a new WordPress site, updating the content at the same time.
Laurene Livesey Park – OrganizeMe101.com
Laurene’s original website was created when she started her business back in 1999. Design trends change over time, and her website developer was no longer available to perform updates.
Laurene wanted a fresh new look as well as the ability to update her own content. She chose a WordPress theme from WooThemes called This is Suit & Tie, into which I incorporated her logo and website content.
I still prefer working with iThemes, but I was impressed with the built in functionality of WooThemes, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to someone who wants to build their own site but doesn’t have any experience working with HTML or CSS.
Sandra Lim – A Better Impression
Although I primarily serve professional organizers, I do work with other business owners from time to time, including many from the career services industry.
Sandra was actually one of my first clients back in 2003 when I initially offered virtual assistant services, and I’ve supported her on a number of projects over the years. She already had an elaborate website before we connected, but as you know if you’ve had a website for several years, even a well-maintained site can begin to look tired over time.
When Sandra was ready for a new website focusing on her core services, she didn’t even consider contacting anyone else, and it was great to be working with her once again.
Take a good look at your website. Is the information current? Does it reflect the professional image you wish to convey? If it’s time for a makeover, contact me – I’d love to help you bring your vision to life!

Nifty information. And hey, I remember Laurene’s original website. When I started researching professional organizing in 2001, just before I started my business, Laurene’s site was the first ever bookmarked.
And I bet it seems like yesterday! But seriously, that makes you an industry veteran, doesn’t it?
