Email marketing tips, tools, and other resources

I sent out my first e-newsletter back in 2002 or 2003 as a way to share the results of my research around the connection between personality type and organizing style, which later became an ezine called The Organized Assistant Resource. Once I started blogging, I stopped writing a formal newsletter and began offering email subscriptions to my blog instead. In addition, I’ve helped many clients to get set up with MailChimp and other email marketing systems, and to create ezines, newsletters, and email blasts.

Despite my experience in this area, email marketing is not a topic I’ve addressed very often here on Your Organizing Business. I’d like to make it up to you, so I’ve created a slideshow featuring some of the valuable email marketing tips, tools and other resources I’ve come upon, as well as some of my own posts. Please vote for your favorites, and feel free to add your own finds!

This is the first list I’ve created with Listly, and I can see it becoming a valuable tool for content curation. Have you tried it yet?

I haven’t tried Listly yet, but I’ve seen it pop up a couple of times in various places. Seems like a great tool!

It’s pretty neat. There is a browser extension you can install so when you can just click to add a post or page to one of your lists. There’s also a WordPress plugin you can use so you can select your list by name instead of having to copy and paste code.

You should check it out – it could be a fun way for you to share design ideas (though I do love the way you do it now).

I actually started exploring it when I was looking for an easier way to manage the Professional Organizers Blog Carnival. It wasn’t quite what I was looking for for that, but I liked it enough that I wanted to use it for other things. I’ve already got another list on the go to post soon, and you’ll see the “new” POBC system next week.

    Hi Janet,
Love this and may try it sometime. Would like more info on this topic as this is where I would like to go for the future. I only have 46 followers on my blog or should I say I have 46 followers Yay!!

You should absolutely be cheering and giving yourself a pat on the back for what you have achieved to date! I resisted creating an opt-in offer (or what what of my friends refers to as a “bribe to subscribe”) for a very long time, but it has definitely had an impact on my number of subscribers. Something for you to think about!
