There’s a ton of information out there about blogging, including here on Your Organizing Business. If you’re just getting started, it can get pretty overwhelming and leave you wondering which advice to follow. Don’t worry; even experienced bloggers can struggle from time to time!

To help you along your blogging journey, I asked members of Blogging Organizers the following question:

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned about blogging?

I’ve compiled the replies here for your reference, but encourage you to join the group so you can participate in future discussions as well as receiving blogging tips and opportunities to promote your blog.

Create a system and schedule

Have a reason, system and schedule for your blogging that is easy for you to follow. Then you will continue to blog consistently. If you aren’t enjoying it, it doesn’t help you to meet your goals or your system is difficult you will stop.

How to Actually Stay Focused On Your Writing in the Age of Distraction

Just keep writing

Keep writing. You never know who needs to hear your message. You may think no one is paying attention because they don’t comment or share. But one day they will tell you they read all your posts, or what a particular post meant to them.

Send your blog posts to email subscribers

For me, longevity is more important than frequency. I have been blogging since 2009 and always send my blogs out via email to my subscribers as well. This is why I stay top of mind with clients I haven’t worked with in over a decade.

How do you get people to subscribe to your blog?

Update and reshare your posts

The first live post could have missed some content that would have added more value. It’s okay to update it and reshare it.

Keep a supply of blogging ideas on hand

If you sit down to write a blog post without a topic in mind, coming up with one can use up a good chunk of the time you’ve set aside. Keep a running list of blogging ideas and add to it whenever something pops into your head.
