Pareto-80-20-Principle

You’ve probably heard of the Pareto Principle, also known as the 80/20 rule. It’s the one that suggests that 20 percent of your activities will account for 80 percent of your resultsIt originally referred to economist Vilfredo Pareto’s observation that 80% of Italy’s wealth belonged to only 20% of the population, but has been applied to many (some would say all) aspects of life, including organization and productivity.

For this edition of the Productivity & Organizing Blog Carnival, I invited my readers to submit a blog post about this principle.

Check out all the great submissions, and be sure to show the bloggers your appreciation by leaving comments and sharing their blog posts (and hopefully this one!) with your network, using the hashtag #POBC in your social media posts.

I sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this month’s Productivity & Organizing Blog Carnival.

Next month’s topic will be Note Taking, and I hope you’ll be able to join us. You have until August 17th to make a submission.

Lots of great content in this one. I can’t wait to read through them. The universal applicability of this principle is pretty astounding to me. I see it play out in my own life. I know I use a few of my possessions all the time, and many hardly ever. Lisa’s title about “the vital few” and the “trivial many” is spot on!

Lisa’s title made me think about my priorities in a whole new way!
