organizing email

Over 12 years ago, we had a Blog Carnival about Organizing Email and Other Communications, which dealt with managing the deluge of communication we send and receive via email, snail mail, the telephone, and other media. Since things are more out of control than ever, I asked my readers to share their blog posts about Organizing Email in this month’s Productivity & Organizing Blog Carnival.

Your email inbox is a bit like a Las Vegas roulette machine. You know, you just check it and check it, and every once in a while there’s some juicy little tidbit of reward, like the three quarters that pop down on a one-armed bandit. And that keeps you coming back for more.

If you’ve been struggling to keep your email under control or are looking for some new ideas to help your clients, you’re in the right place! As you read the posts listed below, please connect with the bloggers on social media, leave comments, and share your favorite posts with your network.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your wisdom!

I’m now accepting submissions for the next Productivity & Organizing Blog Carnival, when our topic will be Laundry Room & Routines. Submit your post as soon as you’re ready – any time before 11:59 PM EST on March 19, 2025.

Wow, there are lots of contributors to this one. I guess it shows how much of a struggle we all have with email! Looking forward to seeing the advice from some of my fellow professionals on this one. What a great topic!

I was impressed at how many people contributed to this one too! The best part is that we get a variety of suggestions, so if one doesn’t resonate, something else may.

I’m already impressed. I read some of these when they were published, others are classics, and am looking forward to reading ones that are new to me. It just proves how much email — something that didn’t even exist when many of us were young — has firmly planted itself in our world. And wow, look how MANY posts there are. Great topic!

It’s clearly something that a LOT of people struggle with! Every time I think I’ve got a handle on it, something changes and I’m inundated again, so all these tips are very helpful!

Great list of resources! I am genuinely impressed so many experts have written about organizing emails. Thanks for picking this topic so people can visit one place where all the posts that will help are located in one blog post.

It’s pretty amazing, isn’t it? I love being able to share resources like this.
